Important Goal for the Foundation: Financial Support for Inpatient Treatment |
The Eating Disorder Foundation of Orange County is experiencing a very slow response in donations. Unfortunately, due to the tough economic times, we are unable to provide many scholarships or other financial assistance. Please contact our office for scholarship applications and other information. We will be able to provide more assistance as donations come in.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
If you have any questions or need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email. We are here to help in any way that we can.
The average cost for in-patent treatment is $ 1000.00 per day or $30,000.00 per month. Even an IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) costs individuals and their families $300.00 per day or about $9000.00 per month.
It is not uncommon to see families who have to mortgage their house in order to pay for treatment for their loved one.
Insurance pays very little if any for treatment of eating disorders and many treatment facilities do not take insurance at all; often it is client payment only.
Eating disorder advocates are desperately striving to get insurance companies to pay for treatment, but it is a long and frustrating process. How many individuals will have to die waiting for the insurance companies to be convinced of the need for additional coverage?
No one offers medical treatment in an inpatient center on a sliding scale. Often an individual needs stabilization of vitals, medication, the help to withdrawal from laxative abuse, etc. and they are not able to get the medical help they need. As a result counseling is compromised. Knowing that the college population is at an increased risk of developing eating disorders, how can we not have places that provide services for those who really do need the financial help?
That is truly one of our ultimate goals. No one should have to suffer or lose their life to an eating disorder that:
a) could be prevented or at least detected early on,
b) wants the help, but cannot afford it, and
c) Has no resources available to them.
Someone's got to step in to help. EDFOC would like to offer that help. But we cannot do it without contributions. Many of our services are offered at no cost, free to the community. Therefore we rely totally on individual and corporate contributions, gifts, and other donations. We cannot make our "ultimate goal" of helping others occur without your help.
Please, we can make a difference together.
Any donations, gifts, or contributions can be called in to: (800) 342-8793 or faxed confidentially to (949) 488-2418. Please see our donation form or contact E.D.F.O.C. for more information, nicole@edfoc.org
